Groundwork Studio
Founded by industrial designer Morten Bo Jensen in 2022, GROUNDWORK Studio is a Copenhagen based cross disciplinary design studio working in a broad field of product, interior and architectural design with an array of domestic and international clients. Having previously spent 16 years as inhouse Chief designer of a leading Danish design brand, Morten Bo Jensen ensures the work of GROUNDWORK Studio stems from a platform of high-end product development and a deep and thorough understanding of materials and manufacturing.
With an international outlook and a design approach that generally encourages longevity over trends, the studio consistently embarks on a tireless emphasis on uncovering a refined detail, a material or a process that distinguishes the product, elevates the craftsmanship, and anchors the product with the brand to which it was born.

FUSE
Named by its distinct component in solid brass that reaches out to hold and organically merge with the form of the glass shade, FUSE Collection is a family of interior lamps that comprises single wall, double wall, trippel pendant and portable versions.
With a starting point of soft, classic yet contemporary shapes and genuine materials such as burnished brass, 3 layered opal-glass and natural alabaster stone, the initial ambition with the FUSE Collection, was to conceive a design that strives for longevity by its deliberate approach to materiality and form.
Light wise, the warm-toned replaceable and dimmable E14 micro bulb is discretely placed behind the floating and translucent lid of glare-free alabaster stone; a little detail that eliminates the often-bothering blaze when a lamp with a visible light source is placed above a bed or a dining table. The alabaster stone allows the light to gently emit through the translucent stone’s natural veins and texture, combining a softly spreaded light with an almost sculptural appearance. The 3-layered opal glass shade stems in to ensure a wider, yet still soft and diffused lighting characteristic whilst the darkened brass components constitute the structural attachment in a total composition of rich and undisputed materials that deliberately point both backwards and forward in time as a strive towards longevity.

Design Approach
Chief Designer Morten Bo Jensen shares his thoughts: “Throughout my career as an industrial designer giving shape to a vast collection of products ranging from furniture and lighting to kitchens and even houses, I have always been deeply engaged with the idea of pursuing longevity through an understated refinement of functionality, materials, form and detailing. My ultimate goal is to conceive products that people would want to keep forever and genuinely cherish on an everyday basis. This ambition was really what brought us together as parts in this joyful collaboration between the fine people at MADE by HAND and GROUNDWORK Studio – a shared strive to conceive a line of classic lighting typologies based on fine, durable and genuine materials we hope will stay highly relevant now and, in many years, to come.
Apart from prioritizing a soft and warm lighting characteristic our focus has also been on materiality as another main design enhancer: A lamp is switched off a fairly significant percentage of its lifetime but remains an often centerstage character in the interior setting even so. Our choice of delicate materials and precise forms aims to ensure a sculptural asset that will enrich every interior setting even when switched off.
