At Made by Hand, we believe decorative lighting shapes the atmosphere of any space, and as a brand born in Denmark we have a special relationship to light and how it affects our social life. Especially in winter time with many long dark hours, we are in need of a cosy and warmer light in our home.
When Made by Hand designed and developed the Knit-wit lamp, back in 2016, knitting was an old craft that hadn't yet been exploited for modern design lamps, and it was a focal point to solve how the light source could illuminate the different knitted shapes inspired by the sun.
The choice
The knitted materiality of the Knit-Wit lamp distributes light through the yarn’s pattern, making each lamp distinctive and decorative, and that’s why our Knit-Wit pendant lamps today offer you the option to choose between two lighting technologies: the classic E27 socket and the innovative Integrated LED.
With the Knit-Wit pendant lamp, the choice between E27 and Integrated LED isn’t just about technology; it’s about the mood you want to create and how poetic a light you prefer in your home or interior space. Please do keep in mind, that the Knit-wit colour palette range from the bright and soft colour tones, like Pearl White, Sandstone, Sunrise and Light pink, that lets a lot of light out, whereas the more darker colours like Black, Silver, Burgundy and Tweed Green brings less light and more colour effect to a space.
E27
The E27 light source creates a beautiful interplay of shadow and glow. Light radiates primarily from the center of the lamp, softly cascading downwards from the bulb. This creates a more focused beam that highlights the area below while maintaining Knit-Wit’s signature textured glow. Perfect for intimate dining spaces or creating a cozy atmosphere. There are a range of different light bulbs that fit the E27 socket, that appear differently in the Knit-Wit lamp ranging from clear bulbs to matte ones, and bulbs with decorative filament inside the bulb itself. The choice is yours!
LED
The Integrated LED transforms the Knit-Wit into a glowing orb of light. The built-in module evenly fills the lamp’s sculptural design, illuminating it from edge to edge. This creates a seamless, ambient glow that spreads throughout the space, accentuating the lamp’s craftsmanship and adding depth to any room. Ideal for open spaces or when you want light to envelop the entire area. Each option tells a different story through light. The E27 emphasizes a central focus, while the Integrated LED celebrates fullness and harmony. Both highlight Knit-Wit’s iconic knitted texture, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
